At the Alumni and Student of Color Dinner and Celebration during HC/FW, 2 students, DonChristian Jones ’12 and Teju Adisa-Farrar ’13, were honored as this year’s Wesleyan Black Alumni Council (WBAC) Prize award recipients.  DonChristian was present, and shared some of the artwork from his inner-city mural project.  Although Teju is currently in Ireland studying abroad, Joyce Hall ’78, WBAC selection committee member, shared a synopsis of Teju’s research on the identity and history of those West Indians that immigrated to Panama to build the Panama Canal in 1904.  More than 150 parents, alumni, students, and faculty/administration were in attendance  - and coming full circle, Dr. Alford Young Jr. ’88, the first student to receive the WBAC prize 25 years ago, was present at the event.

Please join us on Monday, November 14, 2011 for our second AFCA meeting . The meeting will take place in Usdan 108. Lunch will be provided.  Please join us to discuss nominations for the new co-chairs. Please RSVP to Lsacks@wesleyan.edu if you plan on attending.
